When I used to travel in London during rush hour, I had the feeling that people were blending in to each other. There were so many people squeezed in together. It was hard to see one individual person. This is where the idea of mutations started. People become something else when they are mixed with strangers.

There are questions about privacy when it comes to taking pictures of people. And these restrictions also led me to the idea of blending people together. So they become unrecognisable.

I started with my mobile phone, it was much easier to take pictures of people because everybody has a phone out. I then moved onto using my SLR. This is a much more intrusive process and requires caution. Reading situations and people. This is an ongoing process as I search new methods to create the images.
